These Terms & Conditions explain the rules that apply when you visit the STAR website, submit a membership application, register for an activity or otherwise interact with the Society of Turkic Teachers, Academics & Researchers (“STAR”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

This website is operated by STARTURKIC CIC, a community interest company registered in England and Wales under company number 17429146.
STARTURKIC CIC operates under the name STAR - Society of Turkic Teachers, Academics & Researchers - and connects teachers, academics, researchers and institutions through educational, academic and collaborative activities.

2. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using this website, you agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with them, you should stop using the website.

3. Website use
You may use this website for lawful personal and professional purposes.

4. Membership applications
STAR membership is currently free of charge and subject to an application and review process. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance.
Applicants must provide information that is accurate, current and complete. STAR may request clarification, additional information or a reference before making a decision.
If you provide a referee’s details, you confirm that the referee is aware that their information is being supplied to STAR and that STAR may contact them regarding your application.
Applications will be considered fairly and in accordance with STAR’s objectives, eligibility requirements and professional standards. STAR may decline an application where those requirements are not satisfied.
5. Member responsibilities
Members are expected to:
- Act professionally, respectfully and lawfully.
- Support an inclusive environment free from harassment and discrimination.
- Provide accurate information about their role, experience and institution.
- Respect confidentiality, intellectual property and personal information.
- Avoid presenting personal views as official STAR positions without authorisation.
- Notify STAR if information relevant to their membership materially changes.
STAR may suspend or end membership where a member seriously or repeatedly breaches these responsibilities, misuses the STAR name or creates a significant risk to the organisation or its community. Where reasonably practicable, the member will be informed of the concern and given an opportunity to respond.
6. Events and activities
Registration may be required for conferences, meetings, training, networking events and other STAR activities. Event-specific information, eligibility requirements, charges, cancellation arrangements or conduct rules will be provided separately where applicable.
STAR may reasonably change, postpone or cancel an activity because of circumstances outside its control, insufficient participation, safety concerns or operational requirements. Registered participants will be informed as soon as reasonably possible.
7. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website design, STAR name and branding, original text, graphics, publications and other materials created by STAR belong to STAR or are used with permission.
You may view, download or print website materials for personal, educational and non-commercial use, provided that you acknowledge the source and do not alter the material in a misleading way.
You must obtain written permission before reproducing, publishing, distributing, selling or commercially exploiting STAR content or using the STAR name or branding in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or official representation.
8. Content submitted to STAR
You remain responsible for material you submit to STAR, including articles, photographs, presentations, research information and event materials. You must have the necessary rights and permissions to submit that material.
Where material is submitted for publication or promotion, STAR will seek appropriate permission and agree how the material may be edited, attributed and used.
STAR may decline or remove material that is unlawful, inaccurate, discriminatory, defamatory, infringes another person’s rights or is inconsistent with STAR’s objectives and professional standards.

We aim to keep the website accurate and current, but information is provided for general informational purposes. We do not guarantee that every page will always be complete, current or free from errors.
